Meet Alya Vasquez

Alya Vasquez was born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley in South Texas where she has chosen to practice law and give back to her community. 


Alya Vasquez is currently licensed to practice law in the Southern District of Texas Federal Courts as well as Texas State courts. She has been a licensed attorney since the fall of 2017 and was licensed to practice with supervision fall of 2016. 


Alya opened her firm in 2018 and since then has represented hundreds of clients in State and Federal criminal defense and civil litigation cases. 


Alya fiercely represents her clients from the inception of their case through trial. She has tried cases at the State and Federal level with some cases resulting in dismissal of the charges or “not-guilty” verdicts.

Alya obtained her Doctorate of Jurisprudence from Texas Southern University-Thurgood Marshall School of Law in 2017.  During her time in law school, Alya participated and excelled in several mock trial competitions nationwide ranking amongst the top 2 teams in the country. She was named “Advocate of the Year” and was inducted into the National Order of Barristers for her excellence in courtroom advocacy and served as the Chief Justice of the Board of Advocates her last year of law school. 


In addition to her studies, Alya clerked at several firms focusing on business immigration, personal injury, and criminal defense.  Furthermore, Alya worked as a student attorney in the Criminal Misdemeanor Clinic at Thurgood Marshall School of Law and proudly represented indigent clients assuring their charges were dismissed.


Alya has always had a passion for advocacy. At an early age Alya demonstrated a serious interest and devotion to academics and advocacy. She is 2007 Sharyland High School graduate. Alya then attended St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas and graduated in 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a minor in Pre-Law. In her spare time, Alya donates her time to various community service organizations and projects.  She enjoys spending time with her family and devotes her time to coaching the mock trial teams at her alma mater Thurgood Marshall School of Law.
